Indonesia's Bali to host 2013 bridge championships

The Indonesian Contract Bridge Association (GABSI) announced Thursday that the 2013 World Bridge Team Championships will be held in Bali, the Jakarta Post reported on Friday.

The championships, equal to soccer' s World Cup, are set to be held in Nusa Dua are in late 2013.

GABSI Secretary-General Bert Toar Polii said that 66 teams from 135 countries/regions around the world were expected to join the event.

"The world championships offer three main trophies, the Bermuda Bowl, Venice Cup and D'Orsi Cup," Polii said.

Polii said that the 18 athletes who will join the upcoming Southeast AsiaGames (SEA Games) in Jakarta and Palembang will be selected to participate in the event.
