At least eight people were killed in a U.S. drone strike launched Thursday morning in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan, reported local Urdu TV channel Samaa.

According to the report, the U.S. drone fired two missiles at a vehicle in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, completely destroying the vehicle and killing the people in it.

Thursday morning's strike is the 28th of its kind reported in Pakistan since this year. At least 202 people have reportedly been killed in such strikes since 2011.

Though most of the people killed in the strikes are suspected militants, but the U.S. drones do often mistakenly kill innocent civilians.

On March 17, the U.S. drones fired several missiles at a jirga meeting of local people in North Waziristan, killing over 40 civilians at the meeting. This sparked a nation-wide protest against the U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan's territory.
