A suicide bomber blew himself up in Ghazni province 125 km south capital city Kabul leaving himself dead and injuring an Afghan soldier on Wednesday, an official said.

"A man strapped explosive device in his body blew himself up next to Afghan army personnel in Qarabagh district early this morning wounding a soldier,"an Afghan army officer in the province Dillawar Shah Wafa said.

The bomber was killed in his blast, he added.

He also stated that the suicide bomber might have caused more casualties but fortunately he was identified and shot dead by soldiers giving him no chance to get closer to the soldiers around.

Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops often carry out suicide attacks and roadside bombings.
