At least three police including one police woman were killed and seven others were injured in a suicide blast that took place early Tuesday morning outside a local court in Nowshera, a city in northwest Pakistan, reported local Urdu TV channel Duniya.

According to the report, the blast occurred at about 08:50 a.m. local time when a woman suicide bomber exploded herself at the main entrance of a district court in Nowshera, a city which is about 50 km east of Peshawar.

The report quoted police as saying that the suicide bomber was also killed on the spot. Among the eight injured people, three were police, said the report.

All the injured people have been shifted to nearby hospital. Police have cordoned off the area.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the blast yet.

Following the killing of Osama bin Laden by the U.S. special task force in Pakistan early last Monday, al-Qaida and Pakistan Taliban have vowed to avenge the death of bin Laden by threatening terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

This blast could be one of the steps taken by them, said local watchers.
