Turkmen president visits Uzbekistan

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived here Thursday for meetings with government officials during a two-day visit to Uzbekistan.

Berdimuhamedov held talks with Uzbek President Islam Karimov to discuss the expansion and consolidation of Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation as well as pressing regional and international issues.

After their talks, the presidents signed a joint statement and other inter-governmental agreements, including one on bilateral technological cooperation.

Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in 2010 stood at 200 million U.S.dollars.
