Magnitude-6.0 quake hits off east coast of Honshu, Japan

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale jolted off the east coast of Japan's Honshu at 9:37 p.m. Beijing Time Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at 35.6 degrees north latitude and 140.8 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 60 kilometers, the center said.
