An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter Scale hit off the east coast of Honshu of Japan at 7:08 a.m.. Beijing Time Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter was monitored at 35.4 degrees north latitude and 140.7 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 20 kilometers, the center said.
