5.5-magnitude quake hits New Ireland region, Papua New Guinea -- USGS

An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted New Ireland region, Papua New Guinea at 6:05:03 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 71.90 km, was initially determined to be at 5.6426 degrees south latitude and 153.8126 degrees east longitude.
