6.1-magnitude earthquake hits off Japan's Honshu

An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted eastern Honshu, Japan at 9:31 p.m. Beijing Time Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Network Center.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was monitored at 35.3 degrees north latitude and 138.5 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
