6.2-magnitude earthquake hits off Japan's Honshu

An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale on Sunday jolted near the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 10:23 a.m., according to the China Earthquake Network Center.

The epicenter, with a depth of 20 km, was monitored at 36.3 degrees north latitude and 142.4 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
