Indonesia extends condolences on disasters in Japan

Indonesia said Saturday said it was deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan the previous day.

In a press statement, the government expressed its deepest sympathy and condolences to the government and people of Japan for the loss of lives, injuries and material destruction.

"The government and people of Indonesia share the feeling of grief and sorrow of the government and people of Japan. At the same time, we have every confidence in their resilience and ability to overcome this most difficult challenge," the statement said.

It also said that the government and people of Indonesia will constantly stand ready to contribute to the efforts of the Japanese government in overcoming this tragedy.
