The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) denounced the United States Friday for dispatching an aircraft carrier for the latest U.S.-South Korean joint military exercise.

A commentary published by Uriminzohkkiri.com run by the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea warned that the presence of the U.S. aircraft carrier in the war games would escalate the situation on the Korean Peninsula "artificially".

South Korea and the United States started the month-long joint military exercise, "Foal Eagle", on Feb. 28. Ronald Reagan, the most advanced nuclear powered aircraft carrier of the U.S. is expected to take part in the drills.

The commentary said that the advanced equipment and weapons of every U.S. aircraft carrier are enough for a war.

The situation of Northeast Asia became extremely tight every time the U.S. aircraft carriers entered waters around the Korean Peninsula, it said.

"The situation on the peninsula now is more serious than any time before. The U.S. not only openly supported the north-south confrontation but also venturesomely provocated the DPRK along with South Korea constantly, significantly deteriorating the situation," the article added.
