Sri Lanka has denied the access of at least three Indian politicians to the country, officials said Tuesday.

The politicians from southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, where 60 million Tamils live, arrived at the Sri Lanka's international airport to attend the funeral of the mother of the slain Tamil Tiger leader Velupillai Prabakaran.

The funeral of Parvathipillai, who passed away Sunday after ailing for sometime, is to be held Tuesday afternoon in the northern Jaffna peninsula.

Sri Lankan authorities refused to grant them entry, accusing the politicians from Tamil Nadu of using the Sri Lankan Tamil issues to further their political wishes.
