The seven Somalian pirates, captured by the Malaysian navy on Jan. 21, arrived here Monday morning for trial.

They arrived at Port Klang, one of the main gateway by sea into Malaysia in the state of Selangor, Peninsula Malaysia, around 10 a. m. Monday.

Upon arrival, they were brought to hospital in Klang for medical examination, after which they will be held at a detention center in Kuala Lumpur.

A Malaysian merchant ship with 23 crew members on board was attacked by a group of armed Somalian pirates on midnight of Jan. 21 when passing through the Gulf of Aden.

The Malaysian navy auxiliary ship immediately fought against the pirates after being alerted of the attack by the crew members, who were hidden in a well-secured room.

Three pirates were wounded by gunshots while all the crew members and the navy soldiers did not sustain any injury.

It was believed that there were as many as 18 pirates trying to hijack the merchant ship on Jan. 21.
