At least one policeman was killed and six others injured following a terrorist attack on a patrolling police van Thursday morning in Pakistan's northwest district of Bannu, reported local Urdu TV channel ARY.

According to the report, the attack took place at about 9:20 a. m. (local time) when a patrolling police vehicle was hit by a roadside remote-control bomb in the Janikhel area of the Bannu district.

This is the second attack on police within the last 24 hours in the Bannu district, east of North Waziristan, a troubled tribal area bordering Afghanistan, which is believed to be a stronghold of militants.

On Wednesday evening, a suicide car bomb hit a police station in the Bannu city of the Bannu district, killing over 20 people, including a dozen police officers, and injuring about 30 others.
