Three soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed in an explosion in eastern Afghanistan Wednesday, the military alliance said.

"Three International Security Assistance Force service members died following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in eastern Afghanistan today." ISAF said in a brief statement.

However, it did not reveal the nationalities of the victims, saying it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.

The latest casualties has brought to 15 the number of NATO service men killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of this year.
