Taliban-linked activities claimed the life of another NATO soldier in Afghanistan on Sunday, bringing the alliance fatalities to 10 since beginning this year, a statement released in Kabul said.

"An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an improvised explosive device attack in southern Afghanistan today," the statement of NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) admitted Sunday.

This is the second soldier of the alliance killed in Afghanistan over the past two days.

However, it did not identify the nationality of the victim, saying it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedure to the relevant national authorities.

Troops mostly from U.S., Britain, Canada and Australia have been stationed in south Afghanistan to ensure security there.

Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops have vowed to speed up activities this year in the war-torn nation.
