As many as 38,446 local people in eleven districts of southern province of Narathiwat in Thailand were affected by floods following the consecutive six days of torrential rains, local media reported Saturday.

The water overflew the banks of the three main rivers and flooded surrounding communities.

The 11 districts include Bacho, Cho I-Rong, Rusoh, Tak Bai, Chanae, Sugnai Padi, Waeng, Sungai Kolok, Rangae, Yingor, and Muang with an estimated number of flood-stricken 10,014 households.

Concerned authorities already evacuated people in the most severely hit Sungai Kolok, Waeng and Tak Bai districts.
