6.3-magnitude quake hits Loyalty Islands

An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale hit Loyalty Islands at 2:46 p.m. Beijing Time (0646 GMT) Wednesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The epicenter was monitored at 22.3 degrees south latitude and 171.7 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 130 kilometers, the center said.
