Indonesia condemns church bombing in Alexandria

The Indonesian government has condemned a bloody bombing in a church during the New Year midnight in Alexandria city of Egypt that killed 21 Christians and wounded dozens others, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Indonesian government has extended sympathy and condolences to the people of Egypt and the family member of the victims.

Indonesia, the world largest Muslim country, had been hit by a series suicide bombings since 2000, including Bali bombing in 2002 and 2005, Australian embassy blast in 2004 and JW. Marriot hotel explosion in 2003, killing over 270 people.

The Indonesian government supports the efforts carried out by the government of Egypt to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Indonesia has committed to cooperate with the government of Egypt to fight terrorism.
