Roadside bomb kills 3 police in S Afghanistan

Three police were killed and five others wounded as a roadside bomb struck their van in Taliban-plagued southern Helmand province, police spokesman Kamaludin Khan said Wednesday.
"The tragic incident happened Tuesday evening as a mine planted by Taliban rebels struck a police vehicle on Khanshin-Garmsir road leaving three personnel of border police dead and five others injured," Khan told Xinhua.
Taliban militants who have intensified insurgency have yet to make comment.
