A 5.0-magnitude quake shook parts of southern Philippines early Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
No damage was reported following the 2:23 a.m. local time temblor traced some 85 km south-southeast of Hinatuan town, in Mindanao's Surigao del Sur province.
The quake which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 141.9 km, and was also felt in the southeastern city of Davao, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The Philippines sits in the Pacific Ring of Fire which continental plates collide resulting to frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
