The suspect, Khalid Saripada Pansar died in a clash with government troops Saturday afternoon in the village of Lumbac at the province of Lanao del Sur, regional police commander Chief Superintendent Bienvenido Latag said Monday.
Pansar's group earlier attacked 25-year-old Andalawan Hadji Salic while on his way home. Policemen responded and engaged in gun battle, killing Pansar.
Latag said Pansar's group was involved in the August 31 kidnapping of Abdulkarim Magarang, a trader based in Marawi City. Magarang was on his way home when seized by five armed men.
