Afghan troops kill two dozen Taliban insurgents

Afghan forces during a three-day operation eliminated two dozen Taliban insurgents in Afghan southern province of Uruzgan, provincial police chief Juma Gul Humat said Thursday.
"In the three-day operation, concluded on Wednesday afternoon and covered Deh Rawad, Chora and Uruzgan-e-Khas districts, 24 Taliban rebels had been killed," Humat told Xinhua.
Mawlawi Hamdullah and Mawlawi Ashrafudin, the two Taliban commanders are among those killed during the operation, he stressed.
Mawlawi Hamdullah had served as shadow governor of Taliban outfit in Uruzgan-e-Khas district, the police chief said.
In Chora district, he added 16 militants had been killed, while eight more militants lost their lives in Uruzgan-e-Khas district.
The troops detained four more Taliban militants in Deh Rawad district during the operation, Humat further said.
There were no casualties on the troops, the police officer emphasized.
Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops have yet to make comment.
