An earthquake measuring MSK 5.5 hit Tajikistan Tuesday night, according to the seismological center in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, on Wednesday.
The epicenter was in Rogun city, 68 km southeast of the capital, and the quake could be felt in Dushanbe, a center official said.
MSK, an earthquake-intensity criteria used by the former Soviet Union's geological departments, is still adopted in most of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.
No casualties had been reported, said the state emergency situations committee.
