One passenger aircraft engine caught fire on Friday morning after hitting a bird at Karachi airport, south Pakistan, local media reported. No casualties are reported.
A loud blast was heard in the engine of Pakistan's International Airlines(PIA) flight PK-747, a Bowing commercial plane, when the airliner was preparing to take off at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, the south port city of Pakistan, according to the private TV GEO.
The flight safely landed and the passengers and the staff were safe and sound, reports said.
The engine was on fire following a blast when the plane was taxiing on runway as the fire and smoke was seen emitting from engine, witnesses said.
Rescue vehicles, fire tenders and police mobile vans surrounded the plane for relief activities.
The flight was bound to Lahore from Karachi. The passengers will be transferred to another airplane, the airlines sources said.
