About 200 militants launched a massive attack on a checkpost in the area of Achni, a small town near Peshawar in northwest Pakistan, reported local Urdu TV channel Duniya early Monday morning.

According to the report, there are an estimated 15 police on duty at the checkpost when the attack was launched.

So far at least two policemen were reportedly injured in the fight, which is still underway. Heavy casualties are feared, said the report.

More troops have been reportedly dispatched to reinforce the police resisting the attack by the militants at the checkpost.
