A charred woman body was found on a street in an upper-class elite residential area in Malaysia.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the body belonged to a Belgium woman, a Malaysian police officer said here on Friday.

According to the police, a worker saw a suspicious jeep on the street Friday morning and accidentally discovered the body next to the vehicle.

The shocked worker informed his superior, who then lodged a police report.

The police officer said that 98 percent of the victim's body was burnt, but an identity card in her jeans revealed her personal details.

He also said that the woman and his husband live in the housing area nearby, adding that further investigations would be carried out to determine if the woman was murdered.
