At least three Pakistani troops and eight militants were killed on Monday morning in fresh clashes in Orakzai tribal area of the northwest Pakistan, local media reported.
A handful of militants attacked a security forces' vehicle with a rocket, killing tree troops and wounding another five.
In retaliation, the troops killed eight militants and injured several others in the troubled tribal belt of Pakistan where insurgent militants with al-Qaeda leaning have been trying to enforce their own orthodox rule.
Over the past year, Pakistani troops have achieved significant progress in wiping the area clean of militants.
