According to Sunday's The Rising Nepal, a domestic bomb production house was found by the police Friday night in a raid of a rented departmental store of Bishwo Shah.
Shah was rounded up by the Metropolitan Police Circle for his alleged hand behind the June 8 car bomb blast in front of Ishan Nursing Home and Maternity Hospital in the capital.
Police located the bomb factory at his departmental store near Basundhara chowk. Shah has been living in the city for nine years.
Talking to the daily, Deepak Thapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police, said during preliminary investigation, Shah admitted to running the business for the nine years in his own rented departmental store.
Thapa said that the confiscated explosive materials amounted to a huge quantity. Police raided the first floor of the store and found explosive materials, bombs and modern weapons.
During interrogation Shah said that he used to bring the required materials from within the capital city and from India.
"We are yet to trace out many things regarding his further connections and links with other groups," Thapa said. Police have not yet arrested anyone except Shah in this connection.
Police have filed a case against him on charge of possessing arms and explosive materials.
Police recovered a launcher bullet, five pipe bombs, two socket bombs, 19 cartoons of explosive materials, cassette bomb, telephone bomb, splinters, batteries, cables, acid jerkins, and materials for use in making Sutali bombs during the raid.
Shah told the police that he himself manufactured powerful bombs with the materials, said Thapa.
"All explosive gunpowder and bombs were later deactivated by the bomb disposal squad of the Nepal Police Friday midnight," Thapa said.
