Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will lead a delegation to the Second EU- Pakistan Summit scheduled to be held in Brussels on June 4, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
The EU side will be represented by Herman Van Rompuy, President of European Council, Jose Manuel Barroso, President of European Commission and Baroness Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy.
Gilani, accompanied by a high level delegation, left for Brussels on Tuesday on a three-day visit to the EU capital.
It is expected that the second summit will herald a qualitative up-gradation in political and economic relations. Possibilities will be explored to provide greater market access for Pakistani products to help Pakistan achieve sustainable social and economic development as well as overcome the huge economic and social fallout of war on terror, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
Since assuming office, this is the prime minister's first-ever visit to Brussels.
