Six asylum seekers have escaped from the Villawood immigration detention center in Sydney on Tuesday, Australian Department of Immigration announced.
"The department of immigration views escapes from detention facilities very seriously," the spokesman said.
"The department will work actively with the detention services provider to review systems, procedures and infrastructure that is currently in place."
Sources from the Department of Immigration have confirmed that six Chinese nationals escaped from the high-security center early on Tuesday and have not yet been located, a department spokesman told Australian Associated Press.
A full investigation was underway and police have been informed.
The latest incident came after three Chinese men escaped from Villawood in March after scaling a fence.
It followed the escape of four other detainees from the center, run by UK-based security firm Serco, in late February and early March.
