Two governmental security guards were abducted by suspected members of leftist group New People's Army (NPA) on Thursday morning in Northern Philippines, sources said Thursday.

It is said that the New People's Army is responsible for the burning of two heavy equipment involved in the construction of a government road project in the Camarines Sur province, which were owned by Sunwest Corp..

The guards did not put up a fight because they were not carrying their firearms with them. They were off duty and on civilian clothes at that time.
