The Thai troops by 12:00 p.m., local time, on Wednesday have already retaken the Lumpini Park in central Bangkok, acting government spokesman Panithan Wattanayakorn said.

And the troops' operations to besiege the anti-government rally site will continue, Panithan said during the address to the nation in a television program at about 11:35 a.m., local time.

The troops used armoured vehicles to demolish the anti- government's bunkers prior to moving in to secure the area, local media reported.

Meanwhile, the protestors, who have remained at the main rally site Rajprasong Intersection in central Bangkok, can return home if they want, Panithan said.

Transportations are available at the Supachalasai National Stadium, which is located on Pathumwan District next to the Rajprasong area, he said.

The government assures safety for the protestors, who want to take the prepared transporations to return home, Panithan said.

For the Bangkok's residences, they are advised to call 02- 5511515 when they experience irregularity, he said.
