South Korean government approved the budget plan to establish the Global Green Growth Institute aimed at systemizing theories on the so-called green growth, the presidential office said Tuesday.

The institute will be officially launched in Seoul on June 16 at the East Asia Climate Forum, and will be turned into an inter- governmental organization by 2012, Cheong Wa Dae said in a statement.

The announcement came after South Korean President Lee Myung- bak unveiled his plan to set up such an organization in his keynote speech at the Copenhagen summit on Climate Change in December last year.

The organization will be led by ex-Prime Minister Han Seung-soo.
