An explosion Tuesday rattled the western part of Afghan capital city of Kabul, killing at least 12 people and wounding 33 others, local media reported.
The private Tolo television channel quoted an unidentified police official as saying that at least 12 people were killed in the blast, which took place at 08:00 a.m. local time near the national parliament compound.
The TV channel also quoted sources from local hospitals as saying that 33 injured people have so far been received.
Afghan Interior Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar told Tolo that the attack was targeted at civilians and details of casualties would be released later.
However, witnesses on the bombing site said the explosion might target NATO troops as a camp of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force is close to the site.
No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
The Interior Ministry said that a team has been sent to investigate the incident.
