Number of injured in clashes in Thailand rises to 271: national emergency center

The number of injured in a series of clashes between troops and the anti-government protesters starting from Friday rose to 271, the Erawan's Bangkok Emergency Medical Service Center told Xinhua on Monday night.

The latest figure, which was recorded by 09:30 p.m. local time, was up from 256, which was registered by 02:00 p.m. the Erawan's emergency center said.

Meanwhile, the death toll has remained unchanged at 35, the Erawan's center said, adding that by 09:30 p.m. the total casualties from the series of clashes were 306.

The intense political situation in Thailand's capital Bangkok has continued as troops' operations have continued to besiege the site Rajprasong area, aiming to pressure the protesters to end their over-two-month long rally.
