Fresh offensive kills over 30 militants in NW Pakistan

Over 30 militants have been killed Monday in fresh offensives launched by Pakistani security forces against Taliban militants in Orakzai Agency in the troubled northwest tribal areas of Pakistan, local sources said.

According to the sources, at least 25 militants were killed in the latest military assault in Kharasha area of Lower Orakzai. In the clashes, one Pakistani soldier was also killed and 10 others were injured.

Earlier on Monday morning, at least seven militants were killed and eight others injured during a clash with the Pakistani security forces in the Upper Orakzai Agency, local media reported.

Five security personnel were also injured and were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital for treatment, a local journalist said.

On Sunday, over 60 militants were killed and several dozens injured in different clashes with the security forces in Kurram and Orakzai Agencies of the Pakistani tribal areas.

Over 700 militants have so far been killed during the past two months in the continuing military operation against the militants in Pakistani tribal areas, official sources said.
