Supporters of the Kyrgyz interim government and those of ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiyev clashed on Friday in the southern cities of Osh and Jalalabad, during which about 30 people were injured.

The clashes came after hundreds of supporters of Bakiyev, who has been forced into exile in Belarus, seized government buildings in the southern cities of Osh, Batken and Jalalabad Thursday.

Three of the injured were reported in severe condition after the fight in the southern city of Jalalabad that began when thousands of interim government supporters attempted to retake buildings occupied by backers of the deposed president.

There no confirmed deaths and the casualties appeared to be from both sides of the clash.

Witnesses told Xinhua by telephone that the two sides at first threw stones at each other but later began using guns.
