Outgoing President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo was proclaimed as the winner of the congressional race in Pampanga, her hometown, on Wednesday evening.
She won landslide victory over her three rivals. Arroyo's brother-in-law, Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo Jr., said Arroyo is likely to target the House Speakership when the new Congress opens in July.
More than one month ago, a nationwide count made by local media showed that Arroyo would have at least 159 votes for Speaker if all her allies seeking House seats are elected.
