South Korean environment minister Lee Man-eui will visit Russia this week to meet with his Russian counterpart Yuri Petrovich Trutnev and attend an international climate summit in Nevsky, St. Petersburg, South Korea's Ministry of Environment said Tuesday.
Lee will arrive in Moscow on May 12 for a four-day trip as he will hold the first-ever ministerial meeting between the two countries' environment ministers on May 13, in which the two leaders will discuss ways to enhance cooperation in environmental businesses and battle climate change, the ministry said in a statement.
Lee will then fly to St. Petersburg to attend the third Nevsky international climate summit where he will deliver a key note speech on South Korea's eco-friendly, "green growth" policies, and stress the importance of global cooperation in fighting climate change and energy saving, it added.
The ministry said it expects Lee's visit to substantially increase the two countries' cooperation in environmental policies, and to serve as an important step towards enhancing South Korean companies' expansion into the Russian market.
