Indonesian gov't ready to resume affordable house program

The Ministry for Public Housing is ready to resume affordable house program for low income people, a press statement said in Jakarta on Monday.
Therefore, the ministry will increase coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Transmigration and related institutions.
"Providing houses for low income labors is one of the government's attentions. So, the government is keep trying to make policies in order to provide them affordable houses," said for Public Housing Suharso Monoarfa.
He said that Indonesia has labors who earn under 4.5 million rupiah (about 492.8 U.S. dollars), posing difficulties for them to have house.
"Therefore, our ministry offers a liquidity facility program in which (low income) labors, aided by the government, could have houses with affordable price and low mortgage interest rates," he said.
He added that in the future, his ministry wants a one-stop policy in which the Ministry of Labor and Transmigration could provide data on houses needed by low-income labors.

"Therefore, the government could make a mapping regionally on housing for low-income labors," he said, adding that several companies have joined the program.
According to the minister, in line with program of the National Movement of Developing One Million Houses, his ministry, the Ministry of Labor and Transmigration and the Public Works Ministry have signed an agreement to provide houses for low income labors, Indonesian workers working overseas and people who join transmigration program.
