USGS: 5.5 magnitude earthquake hits Myanmar

An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar early Thursday morning local time, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake hit at 12:31 a.m. ((1801 GMT Wednesday) with a depth of 35 kilometers, 90 kilometers southeast of Sittwe, and 425 kilometers northwest of Yangon, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of any damage so far.
