Moderate earthquake hits Sea of Japan

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hits eastern Sea of Japan Tuesday, according to a release by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The quake, which occurred at 9:09 p.m. HK time (0109 GMT), was initially determined in eastern Sea of Japan, 43.3 degrees North latitude and 138.4 degrees East longitude, about 240 kilometers west of Sapporo, Japan.
