The coalition parties have viewed charter amendment should take place before dissolving the lower House of parliament, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of security affairs Step Thuagsuban disclosed Monday.

After the charter rewrite completes, the dissolution of the lower House of parliament can occur, Thai News Agency quoted Step as saying.

It is expected that the charter rewrite will take until the end of 2010 to finish, Step explained.

The coalition parties' views are opposite to those of the anti- government protesters, or the red-shirts, who from Sunday have demanded Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to make a decision on the House dissolution within two weeks.

The red-shirts have said the House dissolution is the only solution to the country's political crisis.
