Two would-be suicide bombers were killed as their device went off prematurely in Afghanistan's western province of Nimroz on Monday, police said.

"Four Taliban fighters were busy in planting mine on a road in Khashrod district this morning but the device exploded prematurely, killing two and injuring two others," provincial police chief Abdul Jabbar Purduli told Xinhua.

Taliban militants who largely rely on suicide attacks and roadside bombings to target security forces have yet to make comment.
