6.2 earthquake jolts of Papua New Guinea's coast: USGS

A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted off Papua New Guinea's coast on Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake occurred at 1400 GMT. The epicenter is located about 100 kilometers north of the New Ireland Region and at a depth of 423 kilometers, the USGS said.

There was no immediate tsunami warning.
