Moderate quake strikes eastern Indonesia

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale rocked eastern parts of Indonesia on Thursday, according to country's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency.

The quake struck at 14:07 p.m. Jakarta time (0707 GMT) with epicenter at 132 km northwest Ternate of North Maluku and with the depth at 25 km, the agency said.

Indonesia sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone so called the Pacific Ring of Fire.
