India hopes to have stake in Russian gas projects

India will demand a stake in Russia's oil and gas projects during talks between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin here Friday, according to the Press Trust of India.
India is interested in the Sakhalin-3 gas project in Russia's Far East region and developing gas fields in East Siberia and Yamal Peninsula, said the report.
India's state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp hopes to sign a partnership agreement with Russian gas monopoly Gazprom, sources said. Gazprom Deputy Chairman Alexey Borisovich Miller accompanied Putin on his visit to India.
Putin arrived in New Delhi early Friday morning for a one-day visit expected to result in the signing of a series of agreements with India in the fields of defense, nuclear energy and trade.
