Eight men found guilty of plotting to kill Fiji PM

The eight men found guilty in Fiji of plotting to murder the interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama in an assassination plot three years ago were given sentences ranging from three to seven years on Friday.

The sentences were delivered to a packed court room in Suva and amid tight security as well as high emotion in the Pacific island nation.

First accused Ratu Inoke Takiveikata was given a seven years jail term.

Second accused Feoko Gadekibau received five years and eight months while his former Counter Revolutionary Warfare comrade Barbados Mills received six years and six months.

Former millionaire Ballu Khan employee Sivaniolo Naulago received seven years for his role.
